    Description

These items suggest a story. Here we have the draft notice and classification notice for one Elmer Denney, of Chicago, Illinois. Also included is a 1 page, double sided letter to Elmer, now stationed in California, from a friend in the 542nd Engineers, which was part of the American Expeditionary Forces in France. The writer, a man named Herb, complains about French food (?!), bad weather and boredom, but also indicates that the Germans are 'getting some licking now'.
The original envelope is included with the letter.
    Also included:
    - a US military pass dated July 12,1929.
    - a WWI era Officer's Guide to France
