Victorian Bohemian Garnet Pave Sterling Silver Ribbon Buckle Sash Pin Brooch

This brooch is quite astonishing.  Rose-cut 5.5mm garnets rest in a pave sea of smaller garnets, producing a deep red jelly-like glow.  The fine quality of this brooch is apparent not just by the finely sculpted ribbon and buckle motif, but the attention to detail.  Peek into the crevices and you will see that the garnets continue even underneath the first layer.  Simply amazing.
The clasp is an unusual flip lever. Be sure that the lever is completely open before securing the pin and closing it again.  The pin and hinge do not appear to be original and was likely a replacement for an older clasp.  The open circular piece suggests that this might have been a chatelaine brooch, or perhaps was also used as a pendant (or a pendant hung from it).
Couple of notes on condition:  When the piece was acquired, it was missing several (6-8) of the small pave stones.  A jeweler has since replaced the stones where possible.  There may be a few small open spaces that a stone *may* have once rested, but the jeweler could not determine this 100%.  Bear this in mind, as it is quite possible additional stones may fall out once it is in your possession, as gem adhesive will have likely deteriorated given its age. There are also bits oxidation around the soldering, the pin is not sterling, and there are spots of fine dust and old silver polish in the fine crevices. The piece has not been cleaned to avoid damaging it.
