    Antique Victorian 18K Yellow Gold Brooch Pendant.
    Truly
    exceptional
    craftsmanship and fine details.
    Inscription on the back ROME.  Probably was purchased during one of the GRAND TOURS.
    Micromosaic of 2
    Doves
    and
    Forget-Me-Not
    flowers.
    It is interesting to know that in Victorian Times (just like today) doves symbolized peace, friendship and the bringing of hope.
    Forget-Me-Not symbolism goes back to
    15th century
    Germany
    .  It was believed that those who wear this
    flower
    will
    not forget
    their lovers.
    In the
    Victorian
    language
    the
    flower
    was a
    symbol
    of veritable and true love, and therefore it was often worn by ladies as a sign of veneration and enduring love.
    Large 3 dimensional pendant.  Length 2 1/4" with bail and 1 1/2" without.  Width 1 1/2".  8mm thick.
